Greenland Movie (spoiler-free review)

Gerard Butler's Greenland, released over the past months in a few dozen foreign territories, where the moderately budgeted production has so far grossed just under $28 million. The Ric Roman Waugh directed movie's domestic theatrical plans were recently scrapped by STX-film making it available for download by mid-December. Such a move will likely deal another blow to U.S.  cinemas. Streaming sites have made the download of the movie possible for some regions and one could begin to wonder what-the-heck was going on (Good for business? Don't think so).
The movie, beautifully shot and written could have boasted of a grossing profit befitting a successful blockbuster but for the pandemic which has been blamed for its apocalyptic box-office.
If you are looking for the perfect movie to watch amidst the coronavirus pandemic, this is perfect for you. Had my doubts before watching, thinking it could be so much worse but I was disappointed. The movie is realistic; the action and destruction is a beauty to behold even though there were instances of bad CGI in a few scenes.
The movie is about how a family struggles for survival in the face of a catastrophic natural disaster. Gerard Butler has had his fair share of criticism in movies but this particular one complements his acting best.
Greenland's cast includes: Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, David Denman, Hope Davis, Roger Dale Floyd, Andrew Bachelor and Scott Glenn.
My rating: 7/10
Rated PG-13, 119 minutes.
