AMAZING TOP 10 FANTASY MOVIES YOU PROBABLY UNDERRATED.

"I'm an adventurer, looking for treasure" ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
These are some the Fantasy movies you might have missed. Never seen them? I've got some good and bad news. Bad News: You missed a treasure; Good News: It's not too late, here they are. These movies may thrill you, make you laugh, make you cry or provoke you.

1. THE SHAPE OF WATER (2017)
Filmmaker - Guillermo Del Toro, who is prolifically known to play in the fantasy genre while always adding his own spice to the genre in 2017,  decided to make his boldest film and best ever film. The Shape Of Water tells the story of a mute janitor working in a government facility who develops a symbiotic relationship with a strange aquatic creature that is being confined. The well-acted and visually compelling movie was a hit and went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director. I absolutely recommend.

2. PAN'S LABYRINTH (2006)
This Spanish feature movie was also made by Guillermo Del Toro (put a respect on that name). It tells a fairy tale about a Princess whose father is the king of the underworld who eventually visits the human world where the sunlight blinds her and erases her memory. She becomes mortal and eventually dies. The king believes that eventually, her spirit will return to the underworld, so he builds labyrinths, which acts as portals, around the world in preparation for her return. Pan's Labyrinth was appraised for its direction, cinematography, and superb acting. It won three Oscars for best Cinematographer, Best Direction, and best make-up. Find your way in this labyrinth of thrills. I recommend.

3. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA (2007)
This wonderful film is about a friendless boy, who is having trouble everywhere in life, gets bullied a lot but is inspired and changed by the new girl at school, who teaches him the importance of fun and imagination. Bridge to Terabithia was released to international acclaim. The dynamic visuals and natural performances from the cast further enhanced the imaginative film. Bridge to Terabithia was nominated for seven awards and won five of them. You should totally see this lovely movie. P.S: An handkerchief might come in handy.

4. WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE (2009)
The film centers on a lonely boy named Max who sails away to an island inhabited by creatures known as the Wild Things, who declare Max their king. This visually stunning movie will make you feel thrilled and satisfied. A film for anyone who's savored the joys of childhood. It will make your inner child run wild. Feel the nostalgia as it takes you to Where The Wild Things Are...

5. A MONSTER CALLS (2016)
This Patrick Ness written film is about a 12-year-old boy named  Conor dealing with his mother’s terminal illness; taken care of by an unsympathetic grandmother, he is further embroiled in a world of bullies. Conor finds a most unlikely ally when a Monster appears at his bedroom window. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and integrity. Deemed by many as film of the year, this movie will do you more good than harm.

6. LIFE OF PI (2012)
Life of Pi is an odyssey that has everything: love, danger, spectacular locations, swimming with tigers, and the three major world religions. It is a staggering mataphor for life. This is my favorite Ang Lee movie. It won four awards at the Oscars. It is a story of a young man who survives a disaster at sea and who is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. He (Pi) eventually forms a pact with an unlikely co-voyager: a Bengal Tiger. Visual stunning, well directed and thought provoking, try this.

7. ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2014)
Only Lovers Left Alive is a film you watch not majorly for the plot, but for its atmosphere. Its photography is immensely rich, all the movie is shot at night, no single shot in the day, everything is so dark and calm. The soundtrack is unique. It is a vampire movie, yes, the characters are very pale, old and romantic. It is most wickedly smart and rich. Tom Hiddleston is Adam, Tilda Swinton is Eve. It does not focus on blood and gore, neither is it a thriller nor a horror. Looking for fun? Here's your best stop.

8. SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD (2010)
Are you a fan of Michael Cera? Do you love teenage movies with lots of sexy ladies in it? Do you have a knack for comedy? Say no more! This movie will make you laugh your ribs off by the time you're done with it. It is a very fun film with loads of story lines, adventure and fantasy. It's about a young man who must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart. Lol. I recommend.

9. STARDUST (2007)
This is an adventure/fantasy film that takes place in a countryside town bordering on a magical land where a young man must fulfill his promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. It contains a stellar cast, it isn't cheesy or cliché, the score is perfect and the plot is classy. It has won numerous awards. I totally recommend.

10. PETE'S DRAGON (2016)
This is a beautiful story about the adventures of an orphaned boy named Pete and his friend (Elliott) who is also a dragon. This movie looks great visually, the splendid scenery being especially good complemented beautifully by cinematography that's atmospheric and picturesque. I'd definitely try it if I were you.
