RUN (2020) Movie Review

"I know that I scare you and I know that I’ve hurt you. But I promise I will spend every minute of our lives making sure you never feel that way again." - Diane

This psychological thriller panted up the tracks to be one of the best movies of 2020 when Hulu first released its teaser trailer last month. I looked forward to seeing it and it didn't let me down. I was particularly moved when I saw the cast including new-comer, Kiera Allen, who plays the wheelchair-ED Chloe and who is actually disabled in real life. Kiera put up a performance of a lifetime and held her own against a veteran in person of Sarah Paulson as this is literally her first feature film debut. Her suffering as Chloe in RUN is relatable and it will keep you tensed on the edge of your seat, wishing you could help her get away.

The movie is about a home-schooled teenager who begins to suspect her mother is keeping a dark secret from her. Chloe, (Kiera Allen) is an intelligent teenager with throes of physical disabilities and in spite of all these challenges, she intermittently pushes to leave her small town life for college but before she could run to the trove where the gems of her dreams are, she would have to escape her manipulative mother whose dark secrets run deeper than Chloe's fears. Seeing her struggle all the time to get away from her mother was a little painful to watch.

The story felt a little bit cliché to me and it seemed predictable but the film found a way to combat this by keeping you guessing.
Sarah Paulson as Diane Sherman was exceptionally good even though she was very dark, creepy and frightening in some scenes (especially when she's about to rage) which complements the title right? Run!

Run stars Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen as Diane Sherman and Chloe Sherman respectively. The Aneesh Chaganty thriller horror was released on digital on November 20, 2020 by streaming network, HULU.

My rating: 8/10
